Plenty of your customers already pay cash. Now the price says so.

George Fattal, FeeSlicers' co-founder, lives and works in Goshen. He sets up dual pricing for Michiana businesses in person: a card price and a cash price on every item, the signs at your counter, and a device that shows both totals.

Card$8.32
Cash$8.00

Example: the card price is about 4% higher than the cash price.

A cash price fits how this area already does business.

Around Goshen and Elkhart, paying cash is ordinary, and plenty of local shops and customers prefer it.

Dual pricing lines up with it. Every item carries a card price and a cash price. Customers who pay with cash see the cash price on the shelf tag or the board, without having to ask for anything. Customers who pay by card see the card price, the same for credit and debit. Nobody is singled out, and the counter conversation stays short.

If you'd rather sit down across a table than do this over a website, that's how George prefers to work too.

The kinds of businesses we work with here.

Different counters, same idea: two prices, posted clearly.

RV-industry suppliers and B2B shops

Elkhart's RV industry runs on suppliers, fabricators and parts counters that invoice other businesses. Two prices work on an invoice too: a $1,250.00 cash price is $1,300.00 on a card. Payments Hub adds a virtual terminal and card-on-file for accounts that call in orders.

Family restaurants and diners

Regulars who pay cash see the cash price on the menu. A $12.50 lunch plate is $13.00 on a card. Quick Service mode sends tickets to the kitchen and handles dine-in and to-go.

Markets, bakeries and produce stands

Shelf tags and a chalkboard can carry both prices. A handheld Smart Terminal Mini goes wherever the table is set up, and offline payments on the Smart device keep a sale going if the signal drops.

Trades and service work

Builders, mechanics, furniture and cabinet shops, and other trades quote a job in two prices. A $500.00 cash quote is $520.00 on a card. The customer pays on site with a handheld device, or later from an invoice.

What Indiana law says.

Dual pricing, meaning a posted card price and a lower cash price, is legal in Indiana. Indiana has no state surcharge statute, so card-brand rules are what apply. In practice that means the card price is always posted, the cash price appears beside it, and the North customer notice stays visible at your door and register.

Our Indiana page lays out the details, with the date we last checked them. If you also sell across the line in Michigan or at a show in another state, George will go through that state's rules with you too. Every state is in the 50-state guide.

Questions we hear around Michiana.

Most of my customers pay cash already. Does dual pricing still make sense?

It can. Your cash customers see the cash price posted instead of having to ask, and card customers see a clear card price. George will look at how your customers pay and tell you honestly whether it fits.

Can George meet me at my shop?

Yes, in Goshen, Elkhart, South Bend and nearby. Call (574) 238-1397 or start online and mention that you'd like to meet in person.

I sell at a market or a show, not just from a storefront. Will it work there?

Yes. A handheld Payanywhere Smart Terminal Mini or Smart Terminal takes both prices wherever you set up, and your table sign shows them too. If you sell in another state, its posting rules apply there.

Is the card price the same for debit cards?

Yes. One card price applies to every card, credit or debit. Only cash gets the cash price.
